Privacy Policy

Overview

Lapse.ly ("Lapse.ly", "we", "our", or "us") is a timelapse, stop-motion, and selfie-timelapse camera and editor developed by Ellorra AI, LLC. We built Lapse.ly to be private by default: it captures photos over time and turns them into finished videos entirely on your device.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Photos & Frames: Images you capture with the camera or import from your photo library to build a project. Stored locally in the app's own storage.
• Voiceover & Audio: Voiceover you record, and any music or sound effects you import, for your videos. Processed and stored on-device.
• Project Details: Titles, notes, tags, capture settings, reminder cadence, and similar information you add to organize your projects. Stored locally.

On-Device Image Analysis

• Face & Pose Landmarks: For selfie-timelapse alignment, Lapse.ly detects facial or body landmarks using Apple's on-device Vision framework. These landmarks and the resulting alignment data are computed and stored only on your device and are never transmitted off it.
• Capture Quality Analysis: Intelligent Capture analyzes the live preview on-device to score exposure, focus, and stability. This analysis happens in real time on the device and is not recorded or sent anywhere.

Information Collected Automatically

• None. Lapse.ly contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party telemetry SDKs. We do not collect usage statistics, device identifiers, or crash data on our own servers, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

How We Use Information

Everything Lapse.ly does with your information happens on your device, to provide the app's features:

• Capturing and saving frames for your projects
• Aligning and normalizing selfie-timelapse frames (on-device)
• Editing, scoring, and mixing audio into your videos
• Rendering and exporting finished videos and GIFs
• Sending you the gentle capture reminders you opt into

We do not:

• Upload, sell, or share your photos, videos, or audio
• Use your content for advertising or to train AI models
• Require an account or collect a profile to use the app
• Track you across other apps or websites

Permissions

Lapse.ly asks for system permissions only when a feature first needs them, and explains why. You can change or revoke any permission at any time in your device Settings.

• Camera: To capture the frames for your timelapse, stop-motion, and selfie projects.
• Microphone: To record voiceover for your videos. Requested only when you record.
• Photos: To import existing photos into a project and to save exported videos and GIFs.
• Notifications: To deliver the optional, single capture reminder for selfie projects. Never used for marketing.

Sensitive Content

Selfie-timelapse projects can document sensitive subjects — bodies, recovery, pregnancy, or a child growing up. We treat that content with care:

• Processed on-device, never seen by us: All capture, alignment, and rendering happen on your device. Your frames are never sent to us or any third party.
• You choose where it lives: Projects stay on your device by default. If you turn on iCloud sync, they are stored in your own private iCloud account (which we cannot access) — for content you'd rather keep only on this device, leave iCloud sync off.
• No judgments: Lapse.ly never adds weight or measurement targets, goal mechanics, or shaming streaks. It documents change; it does not editorialize bodies.

Data Storage & Security

• Local by default: Your projects, frames, audio, and exports are stored locally on your device using the operating system's secure storage and data-protection mechanisms. iCloud sync is off unless you turn it on.
• Optional iCloud sync: You can turn on Store in iCloud in Settings to keep your projects, Media Library, and exports in your own iCloud Drive so they sync across your devices. When enabled, that content is stored in your private iCloud account (in Lapse.ly's iCloud container) and is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy and the iCloud terms. We — Ellorra AI — run no servers of our own and cannot access, read, or receive this content; it stays in your Apple account. Turning the setting off moves your library back onto the device.
• No developer servers, no accounts: Lapse.ly has no sign-in and no back-end of ours. Your content is never uploaded to us, and we never see it — whether or not you use iCloud.
• Device Backup: Your projects may also be included in your device's own backups (e.g. iCloud Backup or a local backup), according to your device settings.

Children's Privacy

"Watch my child grow" is a real and valued use of Lapse.ly. Because that content is especially sensitive, all child-growth projects are processed on-device, and we never transmit that content to us or any third party. If you enable iCloud sync, projects sync to your own iCloud account (which we cannot see); for especially sensitive projects you can leave iCloud sync off to keep them only on your device. Lapse.ly does not require accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights & Choices

Because your data lives on your device (and, if you choose, your own iCloud), you stay in control of it:

• Access: All your projects and media are available within the app on your device.
• Export: You can export your videos, GIFs, and source frames at any time.
• Deletion: You can delete individual frames, whole projects, or the entire app and its data.
• Permissions: You can revoke camera, microphone, photos, or notification access at any time in Settings.

Where laws such as the GDPR or CCPA apply, the rights they grant (access, correction, deletion, portability) are satisfied by the fact that your data stays on your device — and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your own Apple account — fully under your control. We hold none of it, so there is nothing on our side to request, correct, or delete.

Purchases

Lapse.ly is a paid app — a single one-time purchase, with no subscription, no ads, and no in-app purchases. Payments are processed by Apple's App Store — we never receive or store your payment details. Your purchase is verified through the App Store's secure receipt on your device.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Please review it periodically.
